OUR CURRICULUM
High School (Grade 8-12)
A.C.E Qualification through Lighthouse Christian Academy (LCA)
Learners in grade 8 – 12 continue working on the PACEs until the end of their schooling and receive their Grade 12 certificate through Lighthouse Christian Academy (LCA).
Learners progress through their PACEs following the South African PACE Sequence from Grade R to 12. When learners reach the end of Grade 8 or the beginning of Grade 9, an Academic Projection is submitted to Accelerated Education Enterprises’ (AEE) Qualifications Department. By end of Grade 11, all necessary documentation for registration with LCA is forwarded to AEE. Once registered with LCA, learners continue their education as before, with LCA now serving as their official school until graduation. Schooling will continue with Centurion Christian School as before.
The LCA Qualification
Lighthouse Christian Academy in the USA issues an accredited Grade 12 qualification. AEE assists learners with obtaining and LCA Certificate when applying to South African universities. For those planning to pursue a degree, it is recommended to take the SAT during their Grade 12 year. Enrollment fees are payable upon registration with LCA, with the amount subject to annual revision and influenced by the Rand/Dollar exchange rate.
Two approaches for University entrance:
a) SAT Route: Students are strongly advised to write the SAT and meet the minimum benchmark required for the University of their choice.
b) Direct USA Application: Students can apply to universities in the USA, obtain an acceptance letter, and then use that letter to apply to universities in South Africa.
PLEASE NOTE: Irrespective of the certificate a student receives, each university has its own specific criteria for admission.
Students who do not wish to study at an university and wish to complete their schooling can choose to write the GED instead. These students will not register with LCA, they will work on PACEs up to Grade 12 and then write the GED.
