Milandrie Marais - Graduate of 2010 - BCom Hon at UNW in 2014 and winner of nation wide competition - Future Leaders Forum
A former student of Centurion Christian School and now a final-year tourism student at the North West University in Potchefstroom, Milandrie Marais (21), was recently awarded first prize at the IMEX-MPI-MCI Future Leaders Forum at the Meetings Africa 2014 event in Sandton.
Future Leaders is a year-round programme jointly run by IMEX, MPI (Meeting Professionals International) and MCI. Final-year students studying meetings and conventions, tourism or hospitality at a university or college are invited to attend a Future Leaders forum. Forums typically take place as part of a larger meetings industry conference or trade show in 12 or more locations around the world every year.
In preparation for the event, the students had to develop a presentation of their own individual concepts for hosting a student conference, displaying their business skills and creativity in their field.
The top three presentations were selected to be delivered before a panel of judges. Marais was announced the winner of the event and will represent southern Africa at the International University Challenge, which will take place in May at IMEX in Frankfurt, Germany. Marais will be competing against winners from Europe, Asia, China and America.
